AVANCE-Austin Announces New Executive Director
Maggie Jaime will lead the organization’s operations, expansion efforts, and programming for Austin-area families.
AVANCE-Austin, a local leader in parenting and early childhood education, proudly announces Maggie Jaime as its new Executive Director. An experienced leader and passionate advocate for children and families, Jaime has served as the organization’s Interim Executive Director since April of this year. Her appointment as Executive Director marks a new and exciting chapter for AVANCE.
Jaime joined AVANCE in 2017 as a Home Visit Lead, where she played a critical role in fostering strong, positive parent-child relationships. Growing with the organization, she had risen first to Program Manager, then to Program Director, spearheading new initiatives such as AVANCE Innovative Moms and Dads (AIMs), Mamas Avanzando, Career Navigation services, and AVANCE to College.
As the daughter of migrant farm workers, Jaime’s personal story reflects the resilience and determination she brings to her work. Growing up in Brownsville in the Texas Rio Grande Valley, she navigated the challenges of a low-income and under-resourced environment, as a first-generation high school and college graduate. Jaime has devoted her career to supporting vulnerable populations, with previous roles in case management, policy analysis, and advocacy within child welfare and for victims of domestic violence. As a community leader, Jaime has served on the City of Austin Child Advisory Council, the Community Strategy Team for the University of Texas’s Whole Communities Whole Health study, and the Recruitment and Retention Workgroup, advising on culturally responsive strategies.
“I am honored to step into this role and continue serving the families who inspire me every day,” said Jaime. “I look forward to building on our legacy of empowering families and creating opportunities for them to thrive.”
As Executive Director, Jaime will oversee operations and work to strengthen community partnerships, enhance program accessibility, and drive innovation to better support local families. Her leadership will be instrumental in expanding AVANCE’s programs and impact across the Austin community.
“I am thrilled to welcome Maggie as our newest Executive Director, and I am confident that AVANCE-Austin is in great hands under her leadership,” shared AVANCE CEO Dr. Teresa Granillo. “She has the passion and dedication to drive AVANCE’s mission forward, and we are excited to see her continue to make an impact in this role.”
Beyond championing AVANCE’s mission and advocating for Austin families, Jaime shares her life with her husband, two daughters, and their dog, Banjo Macaroni.
Please join us in congratulating Maggie Jaime as the new Executive Director of AVANCE-Austin.
