The AVANCE-San Antonio team has been on fire, making an incredible impact in the community!
Over 30 AVANCE parents attended the WE: Women Empowered Conference at San Antonio College, where they were warmly welcomed by the Empowerment Center team, including Director Dr. Mary Helen Vera and Senior Advisor Venus Prado. For many, this was their first time on a college campus, and AVANCE staff ensured it was a smooth experience by organizing transportation and childcare. The event provided valuable insights into the higher education process, including enrollment, financial aid, and scholarship opportunities. Parents left feeling inspired and supported, with Caminos al Futuro career coaches helping guide their next steps toward enrolling in college.
AVANCE-San Antonio is also expanding the reach of PCEP, building on the program’s success at Gardendale Elementary to now offer weekly PCEP sessions at Morrill Elementary.
On the fundraising front, two campaigns got a fresh boost. The Big Give brought the community together at Cherrity Bar for a night of food, music by Dennis Perez (aka DNYC), and exciting updates that raised support for AVANCE-San Antonio programs.
Additionally, the United Way Campaign sparked creativity, excitement, and teamwork among staff with a Retro-themed Art Project challenge, where teams collaborated to showcase what AVANCE means to them.
